For 2nd time in three days, LeDuc wins 3,000 meter steeplechase

Canton senior Michael LeDuc of Connecticut College won the 3,000 meter steeplechase at the New England Small College Athletic Conference’s men’s track and field championship meet on a rainy Saturday afternoon at Colby College in Waterville, Maine. LeDuc won the NESCAC title for the first time in 9:04.93, nearly six seconds head of Tuft’s Ben Wallis in 9:10.23. Connecticut College finished tied for tenth with Hamilton.

For LeDuc, it was his second win in the 3,000 meter steeplechase in three days. He won the event at the Penn Relays on Thursday night, breaking his own school record with a winning time of 8:47.94. LeDuc is the defending NCAA Division 3 national champion in the 3,000 steeplechase.

In previous NESCAC championship events, LeDuc finished second as a junior and sophomore and third as a freshman.
