Warriors working hard to prepare for 2014 gridiron campaign

CANTON – Practice is underway for the 2014 Canton High football team. The Warriors, under third-year head coach Paul Philippon, will be trying for a historic third straight winning season.

Canton has never put together three consecutive winning seasons. Three times, Canton had two straight winning seasons in 2012 and 2013, 1951 and 1952, 1948 and 1949.

The Warriors will open the season at Dillon Stadium in Hartford on Thursday, Sept. 11, at 5:30 p.m. against SMSA/University. Canton opens at home with its first full season on its new multi-purpose playing surface on Saturday, Sept. 27 against Ellington/Somers.

Canton hosts Enfield in a night game on Saturday, Oct. 25 and closes out the regular season with three consecutive home games against Hyde (Nov. 8), Avon (Nov. 15) and Granby on Thanksgiving (Nov. 27).
