SUFFIELD, Oct. 1 – The Canton High boys cross country team remained undefeated with a pair of wins over Suffield and Coventry Wednesday afternoon in the rain.

The Warriors improved to 11-0 with 18-41 wins over Suffield and Coventry. James Yost won his fourth dual meet of the fall beating his twin brother, Dean, by 15 seconds with a winning time of 17:17 over the 3.1 mile course. Canton had six runners among the top 10 finishers, including Will Briggs, Jake Whittingslow and Ethan Porter, who finished fifth, sixth and seventh, respectively.

Canton faces undefeated Ellington (8-0), Sport Medicine Science Academy and Stafford in its regular season final next Wednesday at Stratton Brook Park in Simsbury. Ellington is the favorite to repeat as league champion.

In the race for the league championship, teams earn one point for each team they beat during the dual meet season and one point for each team they beat at the league championship meet.

In the girls race, Coventry outlasted Canton, 22-34, led by Elle Jean, who broke the course record with a time of 18:20 over the 3.1 mile course. Jean won by over a minute and a half. Canton (6-5) also lost to undefeated Suffield (11-0), which had seven of the top 10 finishers in the race.
