Late goal gives Canton an OT tie with East Windsor; Avon falls to Dragons

EAST WINDSOR, Oct. 6 – The Canton High girls soccer team scored with 1:30 remaining in the game on a goal from Jane Frawley to battle to a 2-2 overtime tie with East Windsor Tuesday in NCCC action.

It was the fourth goal of the season for Frawley. Canton’s Chloe Gucciardi scored her third goal of the season and scored for the second straight game. East Windsor (5-1-1, 3-1-1 NCCC) received a pair of goals from Morgan Masters.

Canton (2-4-2, 1-2-2 NCCC) returns to the field on Friday when they host defending NCCC champion Suffield at 3:45 p.m. on the turf at the high school.

Middletown 3, Avon 1
MIDDLETOWN, Oct. 5 — Avon’s Sarah Kane had a goal while goalie Mikayla Bernetich stopped five shots but the Falcons (2-3-2, 2-2-2 CCC Central White) dropped a 3-1 decision to Middletown on Monday at Rosek-Skubel Stadium at Middletown High. Sam Fletcher, Madison Fletcher and Kaitlyn D’Amico had goals for Middletown (7-2, 6-2 CCC South White) while goalie Jillian Gordon made nine saves to earn the win. The Dragons have won six straight matches.
