Several athletes from Avon helped the Farmington Valley Hitmen capture the Central Connecticut Fall Baseball League championship in the 17 and under Red Division on Sunday.

Farmington Valley (9-5) beat Newington, 8-1 in the championship game. The Hitmen upset regular season winner New Hartford (12-1-1) and beat Wolcott in the playoffs, scoring over 30 runs in their three-game playoff run.

Avon’s Kyle Emery was the winning pitcher in Sunday’s win over Newington, giving up two hits and one unearned run in five innings of work. Brendan Walsh threw the last two innings to secure the victory. Avon’s Justin Olson was 3-for-3 to lead the Hitmen at the plate. Players from Avon and Farmington comprised the winning team.

The team was managed by Bob Emery and Josh Rappaport.
