CANTON, April 28 – Sam Beadle hit two home runs including a grand slam in the sixth inning as the Canton High baseball team snapped a three-game losing streak with a 16-4 North Central Connecticut Conference win over East Windsor Friday at Bowdoin Field.

Beadle was 4-for-4 in the game with a pair of singles, two home runs and five RBI. Ethan Burke was 3-for-5 with two singles, a double and two RBI. Ryan Enns was 3-for-5 with a solo home run in the fifth inning. Canton had a season-high 19 hits in the game.

Nate Fulham was 2-for-5 with three RBI while Jack Rose had a double and two RBI.

On the mound, James Mattson earned his first win of the season for the Warriors, scattering six hits over four innings and striking out four. Fulham, Burke and Ray Powell each pitched an inning of relief to pick up the win for Canton (4-5, 4-5 NCCC).

East Windsor (1-7) was led by Scott Slater, Joshua Garner and Nico Brigana, who were each 2-for-3. Slater had two RBI. The visiting Panthers piled up 10 hits and struck out 10 times.

It is the most runs in a single game for the Warriors since scoring 18 in an 18-0 shutout over Public Safety Academy last spring. It’s the seventh time this century that Canton has scored 16 or more runs in a single game.

Canton returns to the diamond on Tuesday when they host Stafford at 4 p.m. in the first of three consecutive games. The Warriors host Gilbert on Wednesday in a non-league contest and travel to Granby on Thursday to face the Bears.
