Undefeated Blaze too hot for Crushers

Canton’s Mike Zammitt had two hits in Sunday’s loss to defending league champion Watertown.

WATERTOWN, June 25 – Chris Callahan had three hits and drove in five runs to lead the defending Tri-State League champion Watertown Blaze to a 10-4 win over the Canton Crushers on Sunday at Deland Field. Callahan had a three-run home run for the undefeated Blaze, now 11-0.

Nick Delotto had three hits and two RBI for Watertow while Chris Ayer had three hits.

For Canton (2-9), Mike Zammitt, Jeff Mulhall and Taylor Riley each had two hits for the Crushers. Riley took the loss on the mound while Chris VandeBogart gave up the home run in relief.

The Crushers will host Amenia (5-4) on Thursday night at 5:45 p.m. at Bowdoin Field in a makeup of a game rained out earlier this year.
