Canton girls score a record 57 goals in three victories last week

CANTON, April 26 – After dropping their first game of the season, the Canton High girls lacrosse team has won three straight games including two victories over Somers and a win over the Rockville/Stafford co-op team.

The Warriors beat Somers Monday on the road, 19-6 and followed that up with a 19-2 win at Rockville a day later. Canton (7-1, 6-0 NCCC) closed out the week with a second win over Somers, 19-5, on Thursday at the high school on the turf field.

Julianna Iovine has scored 12 goals in the last two games with six goals each in the win over Rockville and Somers at home. Sophomore Abby Charron had nine goals in the past two days with six goals against Somers on Thursday.

Ashley Huff had three goals in the win over Rockville and Somers on Thursday. Goalie Courtney LeFave made eight stops in both games.

Allie DelSanto (2), Laura DiMartino (3), Morgan Walczak and Zoe Bates scored for Canton in the win over Rockville with Maeve Balavender, Bates (2) and DiMartino getting goals on Thursday in the second win over Somers.

The 57 goals in three games is the most in a three-game stretch in school history. The Warriors scored 55 goals in three consecutive wins over Bethel, Suffield and Watertown last May.
