Davey has five goals to help Avon lacrosse team win second straight game

Leading scorer Luke Davey had a season-high five goals in Avon’s victory over South Windsor on Tuesday.

SOUTH WINDSOR, May 8 – Luke Davey had a season-high five goals to help the Avon High boys lacrosse team beat South Windsor, 7-5 Tuesday in Central Connecticut Conference play. Davey has scored a team-leading 26 goals for the Falcons.

Avon (5-6, 0-2 CCC Central) won their second straight game and need to win two of their remaining five games to earn an invitation to the CIAC Class M tournament.

“They played well,” Avon High’s first-year coach Aaron Cohen said. “They’ve come a long way. Luke was definitely the player of the game. With the transition game going, he cleared the ball very well.”

Jadon Folkwein had a goal and an assist while Nick Cohen had a goal. Justin Meador also had an assist for the Falcons. In goal, freshman Owen Folkwein made 12 saves in net to earn the victory.

Avon returns to action on Thursday when they travel to West Hartford to face Hall High (10-2) at 6 p.m. Hall slipped past Newington, 9-7 on Tuesday. Avon beat Newington on Saturday, 7-5.
