Eagles explode for nine runs in fourth to beat Avon nine, 11-1

WETHERSFIELD, May 17 – Derek Tenney had a single, double and three RBI while a pair of Wethersfield pitchers struck out 13 Avon batters to lead the Eagles to an 11-1 CCC West victory in six innings Thursday.

It was a 1-1 ballgame until the fourth inning when the Eagles (11-6) exploded for nine runs to break open the contest. Wethersfield starter Luis Perez went four innings to pick up the win and struck out 10.

Avon (4-13) was led by Will Boone and Ryan Ollestad, who were each 2-for-3. The Falcons host Simsbury on Friday night at Buckingham Field.
