Mihalek fans 14 as Farmington downs Canton

FARMINGTON, May 4 – Pitcher Anna Mihalek allowed five hits and struck out 14 as the Farmington High girls softball team won for the seventh time in the last nine games with an 11-4 non-league victory over Canton at Tunxis Meade Park Friday.

The Indians (9-4) had a 1-0 lead through three innings before breaking the game open with six runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. Carolyn Piera had a single, home run and two RBI for the Indians while Joanna Wolkoff had a pair of doubles and a triple. Mihalek had two hits.

Canton (3-6) was led by Ainsley Hill, who was 3-for-4 with a triple, and Lauren Eschenbrenner, who was 2-for-4 with a triple and one RBI.
