Morrison scores eight as Avon wins second game of the year

AVON, May 14 – Mollie Morrison scored a season-high eight goals as the Avon High girls lacrosse team snapped an 11-game losing streak with a 23-5 non-conference victory over Lewis Mills on Monday.

Rachel Spivak had four goals and won 16 faceoffs, which gave Avon possession of the ball. Peyton Edwards had three goals while Tori Doukas scored twice for the Falcons (2-11). Ann Hayes made 14 saves in net for Avon.

The Falcons scored a season-high 23 goals, eclipsing the mark of 21 goals they had in a one-goal loss to South Windsor on May 4.

Avon has their final road game of the season on Friday when they travel to Southington and the Falcons close out the season on May 21 when they host Bacon Academy at the high school beginning at 4 p.m.
