Simsbury tops Conard to win fifth annual Avon Invitational golf tournament

AVON, May 4 – James Bosworth shot a two-under-par 68 and Simsbury placed three golfers among the top 21 finishers to win the fifth annual Avon Invitational at Blue Fox Golf Course Friday.

Bosworth beat Conard’s Matt Chorches by two strokes. A 33 on the back nine helped Bosworth win his first Avon Invitational title.

Simsbury shot a 300 outlasting Conard (306), Avon (309), Berlin (310) and Coventry (315).

Avon had three golfers among the top 15 finishers. Cole Hahn took sixth with a four-over par 74 (34-40) while Michael Hanranty was eleventh with a 75 (37-38). Sam Cuddleback was tied for 14th place with a 76 (36-36).

Tristan Witzal led Canton with an 82 (39-43) and the Warriors didn’t register a team score with just three golfers on the course. They needed at least four.
