CANTON, October 1 – Jackson Miner scored two goals in less than two minutes and the Canton High boys soccer team scored three goals in a 10-minute span to beat Coventry, 4-2 in a North Central Connecticut Conference game Monday on the turf field in Canton.

It was the third win in the last four games for the Warriors, who improved to 4-3 on the year.

Coventry (2-5) took a 1-0 lead with just 7:58 gone in the game on a goal from Colby Dubois.

But Canton tied up the game on the first goal of the season from Peter Fuller off an assist from Miner with a nice crossing pass in front of the goal with 23:44 left in the first half.

Miner, who has a team-leading eight goals on the season, gave the Warriors the lead six minutes later scoring off an assist from Fuller.

It was the second win of the season over the Patriots for Canton. The Warriors beat Coventry, 2-1 on the opening day of the season on September 11.

The Canton girls soccer team will host Ellington at 5 p.m. with a ceremony celebrating the new lights around the turf field at 6:30 p.m.
