Despite loss, Darien remains No. 1 in state girls lacrosse poll

Despite losing their first game of the season, the Darien High girls lacrosse team remains No. 1 in the state high school girls lacrosse top 10 coaches poll.

The Blue Wave (7-1) lost to Eastport-South Manor, N.Y. over the weekend, 10-9 at a tournament in Cold Spring Harbor, N.Y., on a goal with 3.6 seconds left in the game. Darien trailed 7-2 at the half but scored the first six goals of the game to take a 8-7 lead.

There were no changes in the top 10 this week with the FCIAC still with seven of the 10 teams in the poll. Undefeated New Fairfield (8-0) remains the lone Class S team in the top 10 with an 8-0 record at No. 10.
