SANFORD, Calif., July 31 – Canton’s Will Gallant earned a top 20 finish in the 1,500 meter freestyle at the 2019 Phillips 66 national championship meet Wednesday.
Gallant finished 16th with a personal-best time of 15:33.92 in the 1,500 freestyle. Gallant, who represents West Hartford Aquatics, was seeded 25th in the race.
Earlier in the month, Gallant won the Indiana state championship meet in the 1,500 freestyle with a time of 15:39.74 seconds. Gallant will be a freshman at Indiana University in the fall. Gallant has already qualified for the U.S. Olympic Trials in the 1,500 free. It will be next June in Omaha, Nebraska.
