Ellington girls get past Canton to earn 3-1 victory

CANTON, October 8 – Katelyn Johndrow and Erica Paparian each had goals and the Ellington High girls soccer team took advantage of an own goal scored by Canton to earn a 3-1 victory over the Warriors on Tuesday in North Central Connecticut Conference play on the turf field.

Chelsea Mitchell scored for the Warriors (4-3-1) off an assist from Emma Gallant. Julia Lau stopped 15 shots in net for the Warriors.

Canton returns to action on Friday when they travel to undefeated Granby (7-0) to face the Bears at 3:45 p.m. Granby is the No. 1 ranked team in the latest Class M/S girls soccer state poll. The Warriors have lost three of their last four matches.
