GLASTONBURY, Nov. 15 – Dan Sohn ran for a game-high 113 yards on 21 carries and Simsbury’s defense allowed just seven points as the Trojans beat Glastonbury for the third straight year with a 14-7 victory on Friday night in CCC Division I action.

The win clinches a spot in the CIAC Class LL playoffs for Simsbury (9-1) – their first state playoff berth since 2009. The top eight teams earn a tournament berth and the Class LL tournament begins Tuesday, December 3.

Simsbury took a 7-0 lead in the second quarter on an eight-yard run from Brendan Gaffney – his third touchdown run of the season. The Trojans extended the lead to 14-0 when quarterback Aiden Boeshans completed a 64-yard touchdown pass to sophomore Jonathan Muinde – his first reception of the season.

Glastonbury (3-6) cut the lead to seven points with a fourth quarter touchdown with Ryan Smith scoring on a 23-yard pass from Greg Perry with 5:42 remaining. But that would be it for the Tomahawks.

Simsbury closes out the regular season on Tuesday, November 26 when they host Avon (2-8) in the Valley Gridiron Classic at Holden Field.
