Avon’s Madison Kennedy, center, looks up at the scoreboard at last year’s U.S. national championship meet.

While she may be smack dab in the middle of living her swimming dream, Avon’s Madison Kennedy is a realist at her core.

Having just turned 27 in December, she acknowledges her swimming window – one that currently shows a bright view of Rio de Janeiro in 2016 – closes a little bit every day.

Still, because she loves the sport and is as giddy as ever to be swimming and competing at the highest level and at the biggest competitions, Kennedy says she’s nowhere near ready to pull down the shade or draw the curtains on her career.

If anything, each shortcoming or disappointment only makes her more hungry and eager to continue chasing her Olympic dream. Read more about Madison and the state of her swimming career in this story from USA Swimming.

Since 2009, the Collinsville Press has been providing award-winning coverage of sports and news in the Farmington Valley and across Connecticut.
