Wolcott blanks Crushers, 7-0 at Bowdoin

Baseball ImageCANTON, May 24 – Pitcher Justin Koutros allowed two hits and struck out five over five innings to lead the defending Tri-State League champion Wolcott Scrappers to a 7-0 win over the Canton Crushers Sunday at Bowdoin Field.

Mike Perugini had two doubles, a single and three RBI for Wolcott, now 1-1. Ryan Soucy added two singles and a double for the Scrappers.

Canton (0-2) received a complete game performance from pitcher Jim Spirito (0-2) on the mound. He struck out four and allowed four earned runs. Spirito also had a double and two singles at the plate for the Crushers. Zac Sugar and Jon Scrippa also had singles for Canton.

The Crushers return to action by hosting the defending Stan Musial tournament state champion Tri-Town Trojans (2-0) on Tuesday, June 2 at 5:45 p.m. at Bowdoin Field.
