
Daniel O’Brien went 3-for-3 in game two of Sunday’s Zone 1 doubleheader with Berlin. Post 68 beat Avon in game two by a 6-0 score.
BERLIN, June 23 – The Berlin American Legion baseball team took advantage of their opportunities to sweep a Zone 1 doubleheader from Avon on Sunday at Sage Park.
Berlin (6-2, 6-2 Zone 1) had just three hits in the opener but took advantage of four Avon errors and 13 walks to win 12-2 in six innings. Post 68 made five errors and gave up four unearned runs in a 6-0 loss in the second game.
Berlin’s Daniel Veleas was 1-for-3 with two RBI for Post 68 in the opening game victory. In game two, catcher Ryan Hyde was 2-for-3 with two RBI while Mike Giove was 2-for-3 for Post 68.
Avon’s Max Raha extended his season-opening hitting streak to 12 games with hits in both games. In the first game, Angus and Tyler Nyberg each had a single and one RBI. In game two, Daniel O’Brien led Post 201 with a 3-for-3 performance while Matt Leopold was 2-for-2.
The two teams complete their three-game series on Monday when Avon hosts Berlin at 5:30 p.m., at Buckingham Field.
