Hard-hitting West Hartford snaps Avon Legion’s winning streak

Avon’s Max Raha extended his hitting streak to nine games in Sunday’s 13-5 Zone 1 loss to West Hartford. Raha has 17 hits in the first nine games of the season.

WEST HARTFORD, June 17 – Luke Fox was 3-for-4 while teammate Colby Jones was 2-for-4 with a double and four RBI to lead the West Hartford American Legion baseball team to a 13-5 Zone 1 victory over Avon on Sunday at Hall High School.

Avon (3-6, 3-3 Zone 1) received seven hits with Matt Leopold going 2-for-2. Nick Amatullo, Ben Angus and Emmett Borenstein each had a double for Post 201, which had won three straight games.

Max Raha went 1-for-2 for Avon, extending his season-opening hitting streak to nine games. Raha is hitting . 629 in the first nine games of the year with 17 hits. Miles Borenstein is hitting .428 with eight hits in the last five games.

West Hartford (5-2, 4-1 Zone 1) rapped out 15 hits to capture their third straight game.

Avon returns to action on Tuesday hosting Simsbury (3-2-1, 3-1 Zone 1) at 5:30 p.m. at Buckingham Field in a Zone 1 contest.
