Workers laying down new artificial turf at Avon High

Workers at Avon High are beginning to lay down the new synthetic turf surface.

AVON, August 11 – Work is continuing at Avon High School to build an eight-lane track and field complex and a synethic turf field. The infill between the plastic blades of grass will be acrylic coated sand.

Last December, town voters in a special edition authorized spending nearly $3 million ($2.99 million) for the project. Work on the project began in late April.

The first football game is scheduled for Saturday, September 21 at 1 p.m. at the high school against Tolland High.
