Avon High’s four-time state champion Rhiannon Richmond has signed a letter of intent to run with the Holy Cross track and field program in Worcester.

In November, Richmond became just the fifth girl in school history to win a state championship in cross country with her win at the Class MM championships at Wickham Park in Manchester. She helped lead the Falcons to a third place finish.

In May, she won the Class MM championship in the 3,200 meters with a school-record time of 11:07.00, beating Brookfield’s Juliet Brissell by nearly 12 seconds and taking 0.67 of a second off her own school record that she had set earlier in the month.

In 2018, Richmond won the Class MM championship in the 1,600 meters. As a freshman, she was a member of Avon’s state championship team at the Class MM championships in the 4×800 meter relay.

Richmond has been a member of the cross country, indoor track and outdoor track teams at Avon during her scholastic career.
