Migliaccio throws 5 TD passes in Granby/Canton’s shutout win

Granby/Canton QB Will Migliaccio threw for a co-op record five TD passes in Friday night’s 41-0 shutout win over Windsor Locks co-op Friday night in Canton.

Granby/Canton QB Will Migliaccio threw a co-op record five touchdown passes including three to Connor Richardson as the Bears rolled to a 41-0 win over Windsor Locks/Suffield/East Granby in a Pequot Uncas Division contest at Canton High.

Migliaccio completed 22-of-29 passes for a co-op record 364 yards passing and 5 TDs. Richardson caught five passes for 131 yards and three touchdowns while Luke Maher caught seven passes for 104 yards. Maher ran for a team-high 46 yards and a touchdown.

Will Attianese led the Bears defense with eight tackles, a sack and two tackles for a loss. Khalil Thomas had six tackles and two for a loss while Tristan Sidrane had six tackles and two for a loss.

Granby/Canton (3-1) has won three straight after an opening-day loss to the SMSA co-op.

“We were flying around all game,” Granby/Canton coach Erik Shortell said. “The defense was dominant and the offensive executed at a high level. We keep working hard and get better each week.”

The Bears will return to Granby for their first home game of the season next Friday when they host defending Class S champion Cromwell/Portland beginning at 6:30 p.m.

The co-op program, now in their third season, plays one game each season in Canton. Migliaccio exceeded the former co-op single-game record for yards (208) that was set by Jackson Rome in 2019 against Ellington. Rome threw four TD passes in a single game against the Stafford co-op in 2019.

Maher set a co-op record for most receptions in a single game with seven, breaking the previous record of six receptions that was set by Beach Sessions and Will Attianese in games against Torrington and Rockville, respectively, last season. Richardson set a new co-op record with three TD receptions in a single game.
