AVON, April 15, 2023 – The Avon High girls lacrosse team erased an early three-goal deficit to outlast Northwest Catholic, 20-11 on Saturday in a Central Connecticut Conference game on the field turf.
Avon High sophomore Lily Wood led all scorers with 11 goals and two assists with teammate Kelly Hayes getting six goals with three assists for nine points. Alexa Blaha had a goal and four assists for the Falcons. Wood has now scored 21 goals in three games while Hayes scored 15.
Avon, which won only four of 15 games a year ago, improved to 2-1 with the victory. It was the most goals in a single game for Avon since scoring 20 against Windsor in last year’s regular season finale. Avon had 21 goals in 2021 in a 21-18 win over Berlin.
This spring, the Falcons beat Berlin, 16-3, for their first win and dropped a 8-6 decision to Farmington.
The Falcons face CCC North rival Conard on Tuesday in West Hartford.
