Rally in seventh ties the game, rally in eighth falls short for Canton

CANTON, April 6, 2023 – The Canton High baseball team scored twice in the bottom of the seventh inning to force extra innings in Thursday’s North Central Connecticut Conference game at Bowdoin Field.

And the Warriors nearly did it a second time in the eighth inning. But undefeated Rockville (3-0) got the out they needed to hold off Canton in extra innings in a 9-8 victory.

Canton, which trailed by four runs at one point (6-2) scored twice in the seventh inning to tie the game at 7-7. Noah Asmar reached on an error and Max Sedor doubled. With one out, an infield ground ball from Jake Dest drove in a run. A RBI single from pinch hitter Joseph Nadeau sent the game into extra innings.

Rockville scored twice in the top of the eighth inning thanks to an error and a RBI single from Troy Enamait. Canton (2-1) rallied in the bottom of the eighth with a RBI double from Rob Dlubac, driving in Sammy Lincoln, who drew a walk. But that was as close as the Warriors would get.
