Canton title hopes remain alive
CANTON, May 24 — Canton (12-3, 10-3 NCCC) kept their hopes for a NCCC championship in baseball with a pair of victories last week. Canton beat Avon for the first time since 2006 with a 6-4 victory and scored nine runs in the fourth inning of a 14-5 victory over Somers.
With wins in its final three league games this week with East Granby, East Windsor and Ellington (15-1, 12-1 NCCC), the Warriors could earn a share of the league championship provided that Ellington loses to either Somers (5-24) or Stafford (5-25).
