Morgan scores three times in final 7:27 to eliminate Canton in Class S

CLINTON, Nov. 10 – Once the Morgan School boys soccer team got it going, the Huskies couldn’t be stopped. Morgan scored three goals in the final 7:27 of regulation to beat No. 12 Canton, 3-1, Saturday in the Class S quarterfinals.

Looking to pull off their second consecutive upset, Canton took a 1-0 lead early in the game on a goal from Jackson Miner – his team-leading 20th goal of the season.

Morgan tied the game with 7:27 remaining when David Saturno converted on a penalty kick. The Huskies took their first lead less than a minute later on a goal from Carter Skidmore. Zach Tuccitto had the game-clinching goal with 14 seconds left.

Evan Moore made nine saves in goal for the Warriors, who end the season with a record of 12-7. The Warriors ousted No. 5 Parish Hill, 3-1 in the second round of the tournament after beating No. 21 Coginchaug in the first round, 1-0.

Canton earned 12 victories for just the second time since 2003 when the Warriors won the Class S title with 15 victories. Canton had 13 wins in 2015. The last time that Canton played in the semifinals was in 2003.

Shoreline Conference champion Morgan (14-2-2) will face Notre Dame-Fairfield (12-3-4) in the Class S semifinals next week.
