STAFFORD, Sept. 17, 2022 – Luke Maher ran for a career-high 177 yards and three touchdowns on 19 carries to lead the Granby/Canton football team to their first win of the season on Friday night.
The Bears beat the Stafford/East Windsor/Somers co-op squad, 35-7 in a Pequot Conference Uncas Division contest.
Maher scored on runs of 70, 11 and 10 yards. QB Will Migliaccio threw a pair of touchdown passes (10, 15) to receiver Charlie Attianese.
Stafford co-op (1-1) took the early lead on an 80-yard interception return by Dylan Manley but that would be it for the Bulldogs.
“We played much more sound (football),” Granby/Canton coach Erik Shortell said. “We played hard, physical assignment football. The defense played fantastic, not letting (the Stafford offefnse) score. Our offense executed much better than they did last week.”
Granby/Canton (1-1) visits the CREC co-op team next Saturday at 11 a.m. in Enfield.
