State top 10 high school football poll: Preseason
NEW HAVEN, Sept. 9 — The New Haven Register released its preseason top 10 high school football poll as voted by sportswriters and broadcasters across the state. In the first poll of the season, three-time Class LL champion Xavier was voted as the No. 1 team in the state, just ahead of two-time defending state champion Ansonia. Xavier received 14 first place votes while Ansonia received 13. Farmington was the only Farmington Valley school to receive any votes, coming in tied for 29th place.
