Simsbury Legion tops Norwich to remain alive in state tournament

SIMSBURY, July 22, 2026 – The Simsbury American Legion baseball team scored seven runs in the first two innings to remain alive in the 19U state tournament on Wednesday with an 11-1 win over Norwich in six innings in a Group D contest at Memorial Field.

Post 84 (15-7) will face Tri-County again on Thursday in an elimination game with the winner advancing to the eight-team, double-elimination portion of the state tournament. Tri -County raced out to a 10-run lead on Monday and held off Simsbury, 10-7/

Against Norwich, Simsbury pitcher Noah Kraft (4-0) remained undefeated this summer with his second complete game effort of the season. Kraft pitched five innings, allowed just two hits, had one walk and struck out five.

Post 84 had 11 hits in the game led by Tim Beaulieu, who was 3-for-3 with a double, three runs scored and three RBI. Thomas Seidel was 2-for-4 with an RBI while Will Vincent was 1-for-1 with a double, two walks, two RBI and three runs scored.

Bristol 8, Farmington 3
FARMINGTON, July 22, 2026 – The Farmington American Legion baseball team got off to a slow start in its return to the diamond this summer with just two wins in their first nine games. But Farmington finished the season with five wins in the next 10 games and a win in a one-game playoff with Middletown to secure a berth in the state tournament.

Farmington’s trip to the state tournament ended on Wednesday night with an 8-3 loss to Bristol at Tunxis Meade Park despite rapping out 10 hits.

Leading 4-2 after four innings, Bristol (15-6) scored four runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to take control of the contest. Luke Colfer led Post 1 by going 3-for-4 with two doubles.

With the win, Bristol advances to the double-elimination portion of the tournament.

Farmington’s Noah Bydlak was 3-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI and one run scored while Zac Jainchill and John Walsh were each 2-for-4.
