Three semifinal games for Avon this week
All three of Avon’s three CIAC semifinal games have been scheduled.
The No. 11 seed Avon boys soccer team (15-1-3) will take on No. 18 South Windsor (12-6-1) on Monday night at 6 p.m. at Falcon Field in Meriden. The winner advances to the Class L championship game to play either No. 17 Branford (12-5-2) or No. 21 Joel Barlow (9-4-6). The Falcons shutout Guilford, 3-0 on Friday afternoon in a quarterfinal round victory.
In field hockey, No. 6 seed Avon (14-2-1) will take on No. 2 Hand (15-2-1) in the Class M semifinals on Tuesday, Nov. 11, at 6 p.m. at Cheshire High. The winner will move onto the championship game against either No. 1 Wilton (15-2-1) or No. 4 Lauralton Hall (14-2-1).
In girls soccer, No. 4 Avon (15-1-2) will take on No. 8 Mercy High in Middletown (12-3-3) in the Class L semifinals on Wednesday night at 6 p.m. at Falcon Field in Meriden. Avon scored with one second remaining Saturday to eliminate defending Class L champion Guilford, 3-2 at Fisher Meadows in Avon.
