CHESHIRE, May 2 — Avon High junior Andrew Blackmore did well at the Nutmeg State Games’ Northeast Football Showcase Saturday at Cheshire High. Blackmore was the top athlete among 213 competitors in the vertical jump with a leap of 35 inches.

He also did well in five other events. Blackmore ran the pro agility shuttle drill in 4.37 seconds with the top time belonging to Kevin Robinson of Shelton in 4.30 seconds. In the bench press event, Blackmore lifted 225 pounds ten times. The winner was David Bednarz and Aaron Young who each lifted 225 pounds 15 times.

In the standing broad jump, Blackmore jumped eight feet and in the 40-yard dash, he turned in a time of 5.02 seconds. The winning time was 4.65 seconds. The winning broad jump was 9-6. In the three-cone drill, Blackmore had a time of 7.4 seconds. The winning time was 6.69 seconds.

Last fall, Blackmore ran for 469 yards and seven touchdowns on 56 carries for the Falcons (7-4).
