Undefeated Avon holds off upset bid

AVON, March 9, 2009 – Senior Lindsay Horbatuck had a game-high 21 points and pulled down 17 rebounds to lead the undefeated Avon High girls basketball team (25-0) to a 47-37 win over pesky Windsor in a second round Class L contest. Horbatuck sank 15-of-16 free throws. Windsor (17-8) cut the lead to six but couldn’t get any closer.

Sam Riccio had 12 points and a pair of three-point shots for the Falcons. She was the only other Avon player in double figures. Natasia Franklin and Shannon Samuels scored 12 and 10 points respectively for the visiting Warriors.
