Five Canton High graduates inducted into Wall of Fame

CANTON, October 24, 2014 — The Canton School District recently inducted its 2014 Wall of Fame recipients, a group of Alumni honored for “leadership, scholarship and civic responsibility.”

On Friday, Oct. 24, recipients were honored during a reception at Canton High School that included refreshments, musical performances and brief remarks by school officials and students.

Selected students read essays they prepared for the recipients and then honored each with a plaque. Recipients were also acknowledged during halftime of the Canton and Enfield football game that same night. It was one of several special alumni weekend contests.

Plaques for the recipients are now also included on a permanent display at the high school.

Those honored this year included

  • Thomas Perry – Class of 1960
  • Richard Barlow – Class of 1963
  • Emily Norland Hetherington – Class of 1991
  • Robert Degenhardt – Class of 1956
  • Harold Freytag Jr. – Class of 1958
