Attianese has busy evening as Granby/Canton co-op wins second straight game

GRANBY, Sept. 21 – Sam Attianese had a busy night Friday night. He scored three touchdowns, knocked down three passes and had an interception along with kicking five extra points to lead the Granby/Canton co-op football team to a 41-14 Pequot Conference victory over Ellington.

Attianese also caught five passes for 165 yards and a touchdown as the Bears improved to 2-0 on the season with their fifth straight win. He scored on touchdown runs of 42 and 1 yards.

Granby/Canton QB Jackson Rome ran for a team-high 85 yards on nine carries and two touchdowns (10, 42 yards). He also threw a 65-yard touchdown pass to Attianese. Rome completed 10-of-14 passes for 208 yards.

Defensively, the Bears stood tall. Malik Brown-Smith had four solo tackles, one tackle for a loss and a fumble recovery. Nate Biega had an interception and returned it 36 yards along with two solo tackles. Dontel Williams played well had a tackle for a loss.

The Bears return to action next Friday night when they host Rockville at 6:30 p.m. at Canton High. As part of the co-op agreement with Canton, one of five home games would be held in Canton.
