HARTFORD, October 5 – The Granby/Canton co-op football team caused five turnovers and erased an early seven-point deficit to win for the third time in four games with a 21-7 victory over the SMSA/Classical Magnet/University football team on Friday afternoon at Weaver High.
Sam Attianese had a 43-yard interception return for the Bears (3-1) while, Dylan Disabella, Sam Shock also had an interception. Disabella and Devin Flagg each recovered a fumble for Granby/Canton.
Malik Brown-Smith had nine tackles and three tackles for a loss for Granby/Canton while Attianese had seven tackles and two tackles for a loss. Malique Thompson and Devin Flagg had six tackles each with Thompson getting two tackles for a loss. Nathan Biega had five tackles for the Bears.
Devin Hill put the Tigerhawks (3-1) on the board with a three-yard touchdown run in the first quarter. But the Bears tied up the game on a 13-yard run by Disabella and the extra point by Attianese.
Granby/Canton took a 14-7 lead on Attianese’s 43-yard interception return. QB Jackson Rome added an insurance touchdown in the fourth quarter with a one-yard TD run. Disabella led Granby/Canton with 78 yards rushing on 13 carries while Rome ran for 67 yards on 18 carries.
Granby/Canton returns to action on Friday night when they travel to Haddam to face Haddam-Killingworth (0-4) at 4 p.m.

FARMINGTON, October 4 – Wethersfield High quarterback Matt Silver ran for a seven-yard touchdown and threw an 18-yard TD pass to Connor Pace to lead the Eagles to a 14-0 win over host Farmington on Friday night in Farmington. Silver also ran for a two-point conversion in the third quarter.
The Indians (2-2) return to action on Friday night when they host Windsor at 6:30 p.m.
