CANTON, Oct. 2 – Chelsea Mitchell and Paris Delbone each had goals to lead the Canton High girls soccer team to a 2-1 victory over Rockville in North Central Connecticut Conference action on Wednesday on the turf field.
Goalie Julia Lau made 10 saves as Canton (4-2-1, 4-2-1 NCCC) snapped a two-game losing streak with the victory.
Rockville (2-4, 2-4) took a 1-0 lead lead with a first half goalie from Rebecca Openbrouw off an assist from Abigail Bairek before the Warriors scored a pair of goals in the second half.
Mitchell finished with a goal and assist for the Warriors.
Canton lost their first game of the season a week ago with a 1-0 loss to East Granby as the Crusaders captured their first match of the year. Abby Turbridy had the game-winning goal for East Granby.
The Warriors dropped a 2-1 decision to Bolton on Saturday afternoon. Paris Delbone got the goal for the Warriors while Lau made 11 saves in net. The game was the second game of the annual soccer doubleheader under the lights. But due to the threat of EEE from mosquitos, the games were played during the day. The win was also Bolton’s first win of the season.
Canton returns to action on Tuesday when they host Ellington (4-1) on Tuesday on the turf field at 3:45 p.m.
