Canton spikers drop a 5-set marathon to Suffield

SUFFIELD, October 16 – Canton’s Emma Mates and MacKenzie Archangelo each had six kills but the Suffield High girls volleyball team outlasted the Warriors, 3-2 in a NCCC match on Wednesday.

Suffield (6-7, 5-6 NCCC) handed Canton their fourth straight loss with a 25-21, 16-25, 21-25, 25-21, 15-7 decision behind 12 digs and 2 kills from Grace Worth. Jordan Dion added 16 assists and 13 digs for the Wildcats.

Not only did Mates have six kills but she had six serving aces and eight digs. Archangelo also had eight digs along with Morgan Giblin. Ciara Cebollero had five kills and three digs for Canton (4-7, 2-5 NCCC) while Ella Schand had five digs.

Suffield gained a bit of revenge. Canton beat the Wildcats, 3-2 on Sept. 23 – part of a four-match winning streak for the Warriors, who were 4-3 at one point this season

The Warriors return to action Friday night when they host Gilbert School-Winsted at 5:15 p.m.
