SOMERS, October 21 – Canton High senior Chelsea Mitchell scored two goals but Somers’ Olivia Suter scored with 2:46 remaining to lift the Spartans girls soccer team to a 3-2 victory over the Warriors in North Central Connecticut Conference play on Monday.
Somers took a 1-0 lead on a goal from freshman Devon Dalessio but Mitchell scored twice in a span of 49 seconds to give Canton a 2-1 lead.
Dalessio scored her second goal of the game for Somers just 52 seconds after Mitchell put Canton ahead, 2-1 with 35:54 left in the game. Goalie Bianca Green made nine stops to secure the win for Somers (7-3-1).

Canton keeper Julia Lau had 15 saves in net but the Warriors still dropped their third straight contest. Undefeated Granby (11-0), which is in first place in the NCCC, rolled over the Warriors on Friday with a 6-0 shutout win. The Bears are ranked No. 1 in the most recent Class M/S state top 10 girls soccer poll.
The Warriors return to action on Wednesday when they host Coventry at 4:15 p.m. on the turf field in Canton.
