VERNON, October 2 – Jackson Miner is on a roll. The junior forward, who has scored 10 goals in the last four games, had three goals on Wednesday as the Canton High boys soccer team beat Rockville, 4-2 in North Central Connecticut Conference action.
Miner had four goals in a win over Hartford Classical on Sept. 19, had three goals on Saturday against Bolton at home and another three goals on Wednesday. He has scored 14 goals in six games for the Warriors, who improved to 5-0-1 on the year.
Tiernan Connolly had his first goal of the season for Canton while goalie Evan Moore and Kyle Maher combined to make a season-high 12 saves to earn the victory. Rockville, which got goals from Collin Huber and Luke Woodward, slips to 3-2-1 on the year.
Miner had 19 goals last season for Canton. The school record for most goals in a single season is 33 set by Karl Schilling in 2003.
The Warriors will be challenged in their next match on Friday when they host Suffield (3-3) at 4 p.m.
