Sohn runs for 2 TDs as undefeated Simsbury (6-0) wins; Mills rebounds with a victory

MANCHESTER, October 25 – Dan Sohn ran for 103 yards and two touchdowns and the Simsbury High football team defense intercepted three passes as the Trojans improved to 6-0 on the season with a 28-14 win over Manchester on Friday night in CCC Division I action.

Simsbury (6-0, 3-0 CCC Div. I West) has now won 11 straight games and is off to their best start since 2002 when the Trojans won six consecutive games to open the season.

The Trojans now set their sights on No. 9 Southington (5-1, 2-1 CCC Div. I West) in a game that will decide the CCC Division I championship. Kickoff is Friday at 7 p.m. in Southington at Fontana Field.

Simsbury took a 7-0 lead Friday night on a 28-yard touchdown pass to Zach Gilbert from Aiden Boeshans. Manchester (2-4) tied the game on a six-yard run from QB Trey West but the Trojans retook the lead for good on a four-yard TD run from Boeshans.

Sohn had touchdown runs of 36 and five yards to give the Trojans a commanding 28-7 lead.

Boeshans completed 5-of-8 passes for 66 yards and one touchdown. He also ran for 62 yards on 13 carries. Jeffrey Coleman caught two passes for 14 yards. Brendan Gaffney had two interceptions for Simsbury.

Lewis Mills 29, East Catholic 12
MANCHESTER, Oct. 25 – Tyler Kolenda caught a pair of touchdown passes from quarterback C.J. Nordstrom to lead the Lewis Mills football team to a 29-12 victory over East Catholic in CCC Division III play on Friday night at Cheney Tech. Nordstrom completed 5-of-8 passes for 74 yards and two touchdowns.

Josh Martinotti scored a touchdown for the Spartans while Nick Romano scored a TD when he recovered a fumble in the end zone.

Lewis Mills improves to 5-1 on the year and will return to action on Friday night, November 1, when they host Tolland under portable light at 6:30 p.m. in Burlington.
