Record-breaking victories at Bottoms Up Thanksgiving Day race in Avon

AVON, Nov. 28, 2019 – With a record-breaking performance, Jesse Tubb won the second annual Bottoms Up Thanksgiving Day road race at Thompson Brook School on Thanksgiving Day morning. Tubb won the 3.1 mile race in 18:57, breaking the previous course record by more than a minute.

Tubb beat Avon’s Greg Schirter by 20 seconds for the victory with Avon’s Peter Lee taking third in 19:28.

Morgan Roche, a holiday visitor from Orlando, Fla., finished fourth overall in the field of more than 250 runners and captured the women’s race with a course-record time of 19:03. Roche took more than a minute off the previous course record of 20:17.

Avon’s Erin McGuire was second with a time of 21:35 with Kayla Huggins of Tiverton, R.I., finishing third in 22:21.

The race begins at Thompson Brook School and is run through the nearby school neighborhoods before finishing where it began.

Race proceeds help raise awareness of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) as well as provide financial support for those who can’t afford their annual colonoscopy, co-payments for infusions or maintenance medications associated with IBD.
