Top-ranked Warriors beat Windsor Locks in tournament opener

CANTON, November 13 – Canton High’s Ty Aleksa is on a roll as the Class S tournament begins. The junior scored for the fourth straight game to help the top-ranked Warriors eliminate Windsor Locks, 3-1 in a Class S second round game Wednesday on the turf field in Canton.

Aleksa, who has scored seven goals in the last four games, put his eleventh goal of the season into the net. Sophomore Spencer Mix and senior Jack Freedenberg also scored for the Warriors (13-2-2). For Mix, it was his seventh goal of the season.

Canton goalie Kyle Maher made seven saves in net to secure the win. Calvin Amoto scored for Windsor Locks (8-6-3). Raider goalie Collin O’Brien made 11 stops.

Canton, which has won eight straight games, moves into the Class S quarterfinals. The Warriors will host No. 9 Cromwell (11-4-3) on Friday at 4 p.m. The Warriors are looking to reach the semifinals for the first time since 2003.
