WORCESTER, Mass., August 5, 2022 – Catcher Connor Sackett was 3-for-3 with a double while teammate James Capellupo was 3-for-4 with a double and one RBI to lead the Greece, N.Y. American Legion baseball team to a 5-2 win over Waterford at the Northeast Regional Friday morning at Fitton Field.
With the win, Greece (25-3) eliminated Waterford from the double-elimination tournament.
Greece pitcher Troy McPherson went the distance on the mound, scattering six hits, striking out nine and walking just one.
Waterford (27-7) was led by Preston Tabor, who hit a solo home run in the sixth inning and Brian Ingraham, who had a RBI single in the seventh inning.
