The CIAC boys soccer and girls soccer state championship games will be played at Trinity Health Stadium, formerly known as Dillon Stadium, in Hartford for the next three years.
The Hartford Athletic pro soccer team and the CIAC announced the agreement that runs through 2024 on Wednesday.
This year’s eight state championship matches will be played on Saturday, Nov. 19 and Sunday, Nov. 20 with four matches on each day. The Athletic hosted all four boys and girls finals at Trinity Health Stadium last fall and all eight finals were held at Dillon Stadium in 2019 as well.
“We are thrilled to be able to make Trinity Health Stadium the home of the boys and girls soccer state championships for the next three seasons,” said John Ponziani, vice president of Marketing and Communications for Hartford Athletic. “Much like Mohegan Sun Arena for basketball, we are very excited to have Trinity Health Stadium be synonymous with championship soccer. We cannot wait to see the state’s top teams take the field in just a few weeks.”
All eight teams that won state championships in 2021 were invited back by Hartford Athletic to be recognized before a USL Championship game in May.
