In season finale, Simsbury dominated by Glastonbury, 51-10

SIMSBURY, Nov. 19, 2022 – Jack Petrone ran for two touchdowns and returned a punt 55 yards for a touchdown to lead Glastonbury (8-2, 5-2 CCC Tier I) to a 51-10 win over Simsbury Saturday night at Holden Field in the season finale for the Trojans.

Petrone ran for 168 yards on 16 carries while Guardian QB Jack Anglim completed 7-of-13 passes for 96 yards and two touchdowns. The Guardians will advance to the CIAC’s Class LL tournament which begins next Tuesday, Nov. 29.

Simsbury (3-7, 1-6 CCC Tier I) was led by Ravi Bhamidipati and Garret Dagenais who each made 10 tackles in the game. Bhamidipati also had three assists.

Daniel Sullivan hit a 34-yard field goal for the Trojans and caught a 15-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Patrick Matacyzk in the fourth quarter.

With the win, Glastonbury snapped a three-game losing streak at the hands of the Trojans with their first victory over Simsbury since 2016. It tied the series record for the most lopsided win by the Guardians, who also beat Simsbury by 41 points in 2014, 55-14.

Simsbury owns the most one-sided win in the series, that began in 1969, with a 52-point victory in 1970, 60-8.
