Hard-hitting Canton wins second straight; Avon falls to Middletown, 11-10

BOLTON, April 4, 2023 – Michael Archangelo, Nate Hiscox, Jackson Senecal and Sammy Lincoln each had two hits as the Canton High baseball team rapped out 17 hits in a 20-4 win over Bolton in five inning Tuesday in North Central Connecticut Conference play.

Canton (2-0, 1-0 NCCC) scored seven runs in the first inning and added another 11 in the third inning. Archangelo had a single and a double with two RBI while Hiscox and Senecal each had a double and one RBI.

Three Canton pitchers combined to fan 11 Bolton batters and allowed just three hits.

The Warriors return to action on Thursday when they host Rockville at Bowdoin Field.

Middletown 11, Avon 10
AVON, April 4, 2023 – Visiting Middletown had a six-run lead after 2½ innings and held off Avon, 11-10, to win their first game of the season at Buckingham Field.

Avon (1-1) trailed 10-4 going into the bottom of the third inning when the Falcons scored five times to cut the lead to one run, 10-9. Each team added another run in the fourth inning.

After combining to score 21 runs in the first four innings, neither team scored in the final three innings.

David Pengel was 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI for Avon while Jacob Wirth was 2-for-3. Michael Prisco was 2-for-4 with two RBI for the Falcons.

Avon returns to action on Monday when they travel to Glastonbury for a 3:45 p.m. contest.
