CANTON, June 4, 2024 – Voters in Canton passed the town budget for the 2024-25 fiscal year at a second referendum by a vote of 984 to 824. Voters approved a budget of $48.611 million, a 3.99 percent increase over the previous year’s budget.
Twenty-three percent of the town’s 7,807 voters participated in the referendum.
The town’s first proposed budget that would have resulted in a 5.57 percent increase in spending was defeated on May 7 by voters, 944-689. The Board of Finance cut $741,928 from the first budget.
